iBrain:

iBrain is an academic network of leading Higher Education Institutes in neuroscience and behavioral sciences with particular focus on cognitive, neuroimaging studies.

Dr. Bidisha Som, associate professor of Linguistics from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Centre for Linguistic Science and Technology, is the coordinator of the project in IITG.

Aims and Goals:

The aims of this project include creating Master’s-Doctoral tracks to increase the effectiveness of education in Cognitive Sciences, cognitive psychology and neuroscience. The partner institutions would also organize advanced courses, practical placements, summer schools, research seminars, trainings, and guest lectures geared towards upgrading skills of researchers in these domains.

As part of this goal, The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), IIT Guwahati, has planned a number of activities that include training workshops in methods in Cognitive Science, invited lectures by leading cognitive scientists and student/researcher presentations/interactions for knowledge dissemination and training of students and researchers in various domains of cognitive science, with particular focus on language research.

IIT Guwahati:

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati was established in 1994, with commencement of academic programs in 1995. This institute is located near the riverbank of the mighty Brahmaputra. The landscape is surrounded by lush green hills and is regarded as one of the most beautiful campus in the country.

The institution has a reputation of training future researchers in a host of cutting-edge scientific domains. Thus, the iBrain workshop and lecture series look forward to adding their drop into the ocean by training and motivating students and researchers in Cognitive science.
